Voluntary Buyout Process Initiated For 20 Homes in Pasadena Area

March 20, 2006
Harris County Commissioners Court recently initiated the voluntary buyout process for 20 homes in the Spencer Village subdivision in Pasadena. The court approved 20 tracts to be sent to the Harris County Right of Way Division, which will acquire the property on behalf of the Harris County Flood Control District. The Right of Way Division will appraise the homes for fair market value using independent appraisers.

Homeowners should expect offers for their homes in three to four weeks. The homes are part of a 2005 Pre-Disaster Mitigation grant, awarded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and matched 25 percent by the Flood Control District. The District also will pay up to $22,500 in relocation assistance per home.
