PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This project will construct a dry-bottom stormwater detention basin on Willow Springs Bayou, HCFCD Unit B112-00-00, to reduce flooding in the Brookglen subdivision as part of a larger drainage plan for the area. The Brookglen Stormwater Detention Basin is composed of two compartments: the North Compartment and the South Compartment.

The North compartment will be the first phase of construction on the detention basin site and will provide approximately 16.95 acre-feet of detention storage volume.

The South compartment will be the second phase of construction on the detention basin site and is anticipated to begin June 2024. This compartment will provide approximately 33.45 acre-feet of detention storage volume.

When both the North and South compartments are complete, the Brookglen Stormwater Detention Basin project will provide approximately 50.40 acre-feet of detention storage volume.

Project Lifecycle

Every flood damage reduction project is unique. Yet each project begins and ends, with common and predictable milestones along the way. Whether a project moves forward – and how quickly – depends on many factors, including the availability of funding at each milestone, shifting community priorities for flood damage reduction, and other changing circumstances (such as the price of trees or concrete) from year to year.
