HARRIS COUNTY FLOOD CONTROL DISTRICT TO BEGIN MAJOR MAINTENANCE PROJECT ON CEDAR BAYOU

Harris County Flood Control District will launch the first phase of a multi-million-dollar maintenance project in November 2018 to selectively clear trees, remove vegetative debris and improve stormwater flow along Cedar Bayou from Interstate Highway 10 to near Huffman-Eastgate Road.

HARRIS COUNTY FLOOD CONTROL DISTRICT COMPLETES POST-HARVEY REMOVAL OF STORMWATER CHANNEL BLOCKAGES

The Harris County Flood Control District has completed a county-wide effort to remove downed trees and other storm debris left blocking Harris County’s bayou drainage system since Hurricane Harvey more than a year ago. With a last push on Buffalo Bayou and Cypress Creek and expenses estimated at $8.9 million so far, more than 140,000 cubic yards (roughly 40,000 tons) have been removed since this work began shortly after the storm.

HARRIS COUNTY FLOOD CONTROL DISTRICT AND U.S. ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS SIGN AGREEMENT FOR RESILIENCY STUDY OF BUFFALO BAYOU AND TRIBUTARIES

The Harris County Flood Control District (the Flood Control District) joined its federal partner, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), in signing a Feasibility Cost Sharing Agreement (FCSA) for a comprehensive study of the Addicks and Barker Reservoirs and surrounding watersheds. The $6 million study will include Buffalo Bayou and its tributaries and USACE will serve as the lead agency.
