Harris County Rainfall and Bayou Levels Update - 1 p.m.

The Harris County Flood Control District's Flood Watch team continues to monitor rainfall trends, as well as measured rainfall amounts and water levels in bayous and creeks. Stormwater levels in most bayous continue to fall with a midday break in the rain, following widespread rain totals of between 2-7 inches over the last 12 hours across all but far southeast Harris County.

HARRIS COUNTY FLOOD CONTROL DISTRICT RECEIVES FEMA GRANT FOR MAAPnext

On December 17, 2019, Harris County Commissioners Court authorized acceptance of $3.5 million in grant funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to support the second phase of MAAPnext, the Modeling, Assessment and Awareness Project (MAAP), led by the Harris County Flood Control District. MAAPnext represents an innovative approach in the management and regulation of Harris County’s floodplains, further contributing to Harris County’s resilience and growth.

CONSTRUCTION TO BEGIN ON STORMWATER DETENTION BASIN PROJECT ALONG BRAYS BAYOU

The Harris County Flood Control District is set to begin construction on a series of stormwater detention basins located at Braeswood Boulevard between Endicott Lane and South Post Oak Road to reduce the risk of flooding in the vicinity of the basins and along Brays Bayou.
