HARRIS COUNTY FLOOD CONTROL DISTRICT AND U.S. ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS SIGN AGREEMENT FOR CLEAR CREEK FEDERAL FLOOD RISK MANAGEMENT PROJECT

The Harris County Flood Control District and one of its federal partners, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District (USACE), signed a new Project Partnership Agreement (PPA) for the design and construction of the Clear Creek Federal Flood Risk Management Project. The $295 million project will substantially reduce flood risks for a large portion of the Clear Creek Watershed in Harris, Brazoria and Galveston counties.

HARRIS COUNTY FLOOD CONTROL DISTRICT MONITORING TROPICAL DISTURBANCE IN THE GULF LIKELY TO BRING HEAVY RAINFALL THIS WEEK

The Harris County Flood Control District (HCFCD) is tracking and monitoring a tropical disturbance currently over Western Gulf of Mexico, which is expected to bring heavy rainfall possibly resulting in rises in bayou and creek levels and street flooding. A flash flood watch will be in effect for Harris County tonight through Thursday morning.

Collaboration with HCFCD Enhances Mosquito Control, Dragonfly and Butterfly Habitat Volunteers with NRG Energy, working with Houston Wilderness, Trees for Houston and Harris County Precinct 4, spent several hours May 17 planting the native coastal prairie grasses and wildflowers that will help transform a seven-acre Harris County Flood Control District stormwater detention basin near Telge and Spring Cypress roads into a haven for monarch butterflies and mosquito-eating dragonflies.
