Construction Advisory: Addicks Reservoir Watershed Repair Package Two

As a part of the Harris County Flood Control District’s overall maintenance operations, the Flood Control District is undertaking multiple comprehensive projects to evaluate and, if necessary, repair channels for which the Flood Control District has property rights that drain to the Addicks Reservoir. The Addicks Reservoir is owned and operated by the US Army Corps of Engineers.

The Addicks Repair Package Two will repair channels where erosion and slope failures have occurred within the Flood Control District right-of-way and/or within the channel itself. Repairs also include concrete structures and storm outfall failures. This effort is part of ongoing work to ensure the channels in the Addicks watershed are functioning at design capacity as they carry stormwater out of surrounding neighborhoods and into the federal reservoir. Construction on Repair Package Two is expected to begin in fall 2023 and anticipated to be complete by winter 2023/24.

Residents in the neighborhoods surrounding Bear Creek, Langham Creek and one tributary of South Mayde Creek, will begin to see increased construction activity around these waterways, which will include trucks and heavy machinery. Residents are urged to respect all warning signs and avoid trails and sidewalks that may be temporarily impacted as work crews move around the area.

The Flood Control District works to reduce flooding across the region and is committed to keeping residents informed. For more information on this project, trail impacts or other Flood Control District projects, please visit www.hcfcd.org/F-53.
