In an effort to keep you informed about the Harris County Flood Control District’s continuing work in the Addicks Reservoir watershed, we are pleased to announce that the Addicks Repair Package 2 is substantially complete. Construction contractors will demobilize over the coming weeks.
As a part of the Harris County Flood Control District’s overall maintenance operations, the Flood Control District is undertaking multiple comprehensive projects to evaluate and repair channels where the Flood Control District has property rights that drain to the Addicks Reservoir. The Addicks Reservoir is owned and operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
The Addicks Repair Package 2 repaired channels where erosion and slope failures occurred within the Flood Control District right-of-way and/or within the channel itself. Repairs also included concrete structures and storm outfall failures. Construction on Repair Package 2 began in Q3 2023 and is now substantially complete.
These efforts are part of ongoing work to ensure the channels in the Addicks Reservoir watershed are functioning at design capacity as they carry stormwater out of surrounding neighborhoods and into the federal reservoir.
The Flood Control District works to reduce flooding across the region and is committed to keeping residents informed. For more information on this project, trail impacts or other Flood Control District projects, please visit www.hcfcd.org/F-53.
