As a part of the Harris County Flood Control District’s maintenance operations, the Flood Control District is currently undertaking multiple comprehensive projects to de-silt channels that drain to the Barker Reservoir. Impacted areas include the Green Trails subdivision and surrounding neighborhoods near Mason Creek from South Fry Road to Baker Road.
For the safety of area residents and trail and park users, orange construction barriers and fencing have been set up in the construction area. Recently, it has come to our attention that trail and park users have removed or ignored orange fencing to access closed areas of the trail. Additionally, recent vandalism of construction equipment in the area has occurred.
To maintain a safe construction environment, trail and park users are urged and reminded to respect all warning signs, fencing, and barriers, and to avoid any trails, sidewalks, and pedestrian bridges, which may be temporarily impacted as work crews move around the area.
Following these safety measures will expedite construction completion in a safe and timely manner. When orange fencing or barricades are removed or tampered with, construction crews have to stop work to replace these public safety devices. All residents and trail and park users are asked to take an active role in respecting construction barriers to ensure a safe park environment and timely construction process.
The Flood Control District works to reduce flooding across the region and is committed to keeping residents informed. For more information on this project or other Flood Control District projects, please visit www.HCFCD.org/F52.
