Virtual Community Engagement Meeting for the Smith Road Channel Diversion Project

The Harris County Flood Control District will hold a virtual Community Engagement Meeting for the Smith Road Channel Diversion Project located in the Greens Bayou watershed. The purpose of this meeting is to inform residents about the status of the upcoming construction project beginning Fall 2022 and share project information.

The Smith Road Channel Diversion Project will include work along Smith Road from Tributary P133-00-00 to Dory Lee Lane to reduce the risk of flooding in the area by providing an alternate route for excess water to flow, mitigating the effects of flooding and restoring bayous and tributaries to their natural water level. This project will be funded through the 2018 Bond Program, which was approved by Harris County voters on August 25, 2018, along with partnership funding through a Community Block Development Grant for Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) grant. Community engagement is an important component of the Bond Program and of the CDBG-DR program, and we invite your participation as this and other projects are implemented.
